Post Match Interviews - Inverness CT
by Stuart Gillespie at St Mirren Park
Saints boss Danny Lennon felt his side were good going forward, but bemoaned the defensive lapses that meant they weren't able to capitalise on their offensive play.
He said: "I think the disappointing thing is that you score three goals at home, two of them wonderful goals, and you give away very, very sloppy goals. We know exactly where we have gone wrong today - We were slow out of the traps.
"I felt once we went 2-1 up, or five minutes prior to that, we started to get into the game and control it a bit.
"I thought the boys' character, even up to the time when they score on the break after we've been dominating, we showed offensively was absolutely terrific. I felt that was the best we've been in an offensive manner for a long, long time.
"I think a big part to play in that was the supporters. They were terrific right throughout. They've got their opinions and they're just as passionate as we are. I thought they really got behind them.
"The first two goals we'll sit down and discuss where we went wrong. We didn't handle their front two very well in the first half at all. I'm disappointed not to take maximum points.
"Overall, the performance offensively deserved it and I just said to the boys they didn't lose the game, they just ran out of time.
"We can take away the good things we've done and we'll study the bad things. It's not rocket science where we went wrong. Every man and their dog could see where we went wrong.
"It's about getting back on the bike and three points would have been better, but to go behind twice and to show the character, more so in the way they did, we'll take the positives out of that all day."
Jure Travner put in a superb display after coming on at half time but Danny didn't feel the fans' favourite was capable of playing the full game.
He explained: "45 minutes was about right for him today. That's what fans don't really understand - they're just normal people, you work with them on a daily basis and you know what they're going through.
"Any fans that were through at the Hibs game will know Jure Travner was showing a bit of fatigue then, even as early as the first 15 minutes. He'd played every minute for us up until last week so it was important to give him that rest. I thought today we had to go to a three and to be fair in the second half we handled it a bit better."
With Inverness Caleu Thistle struggling with injuries, gaffer Terry Butcher was pleased his side were able to get a point. He said: "Where do you start with that? We could have won it, we could have lost it so a draw is possibly the right result.
"Ryan's (Esson) had to make a tremendous save right at the end and they battered us in the second half. We scored against the run of play in the second half and we thought we were going to hold on. We couldn't get out and they put good balls in the box.
"To come out of that with a point with the resources we had is highly creditable to the players. We went 1-0 up, 2-1 down, if there's any negativity we wouldn't have come back. There's nothing but positives in our camp."
