Post Match Interviews - Hibernian
by Colin Orr at Easter Road
SAINTS boss Danny Lennon admitted his side were outfought and outplayed by a rejuvenated Hibs at Easter Road tonight.
Saints went down to second-half goals from Derek Riordan and David Wotherspoon as the Edinburgh side served up a night of capital punishment for the Paisley faithful.
And Danny said: "It was frustrating from our point of view that Hibs were the hungrier side tonight. We didn't really cause them a threat in the final third.
"Their new lads had an influence. They've not seen the pressures of the situation and that maybe gave them a lift.
"But I put it down to a bad night at the office. The desire shown by our boys in recent weeks has been excellent.
"I had said before the game it was never going to be the be all and end all whatever the result tonight. We've got them again in a fortnight and we hope to turn things around then."
Danny lost Paddy Cregg to injury with little more than half an hour played, and said he was frustrated to find out the player was carrying an injury he didn't know about.
He said: "Paddy was carrying a knock from the Dundee United game and it is frustrating because the first I knew of it was tonight when he came off.
"You want a bit of honesty from the boys, particularly when you have fitter ones sitting there by the side.
"When Shuggie Murray went on, we started to pick up some pieces and we finished the first half well."
Hibs boss Colin Calderwood was understandably relieved to see his side reverse an alarming run of defeats. He said: "We are pleased and I am delighted for the boys.
"There's a nice feeling in the dressing room, as you would imagine. But I've always said you have do it for longer than one or two games in a row."
