Defender, David Barron had been offered a new deal by the Club several weeks ago and Danny Lennon confirmed this evening that it is still unsigned.

He said, "David Barron has declined the contract offer given to him by the Club. The boy has got to do what he feels is right for him but the Club and his representatives have come to a stall.

"The big thing for David is that we get him back playing and take it from there."

Today St Mirren played St Johnstone in a bounce game and the Saints gaffer believes that these games are a more than worthwhile exercise.

He said, "We had a bounce game today against a very strong St Johnstone side. We had a few younger players out, some trialists and we gave some playing time to the likes of Garry Brady, Marc McAusland and Paul McQuade.

"These guys need games as do Michael Higdon and Patrick Cregg so with that in mind we have another game arranged for Thursday."

Paul Gallacher was a surprise exclusion from the side that faced Motherwell on Saturday, Danny confirms that the keeper was injured but now looks to be on the mend.

He said, "Paul Gallacher hurt his knee in the game against Inverness and got a scan on it last week, the results showing that there was nothing serious. Saturday just came too soon for him but his injury is getting better each day."

Danny also confirmed the overall status of injuries in the squad: "David Barron also had a scan last week on his injury and it looks as if it is healing so I reckon in about four weeks time he'll be ready to step up his training.

"Steven Thomson is making a good recovery from his calf injury and hopefully he'll be running by the end of this week.

"Craig Dargo has a medial ligament problem so we're letting that settle down. He can do straight running but we'll have to keep an eye on him when it comes to turning and striking balls. The fact that he can run is helping him to maintain his fitness during this time and all being well he should be set to go in the next week or two."

Due to the international matches there will be no SPL fixtures this weekend but for Danny and the squad it is business as usual.

He said, "We'll go about things this week as we normally would with the exception of having another bounce game on Thursday.

"From there we'll be gearing up and getting to work on the preparations for the important game coming up against Hamilton."
