St Mirren's Under 19 side kept their recent run of good form going this afternoon as they won 2-1 away to Hamilton Academical at Prestonfield Park in Linlithgow.

The young Saints started the game well with some early chances but the home side took the upper hand midway through the half when they took the lead from a corner-kick.

Hamilton kicked on and Saints were perhaps fortunate to still only be a goal down at half-time.

Saints started the second half really well as they pulled level on the 48th minute when Craig Slater executed a great finish from 15 yards out.

As time was running out Jamie McKernon cracked a direct free-kick off the crossbar but the young Saints weren't to be denied the victory as on the 90th minute Joel Kasubandi got himself into a one-on-one situation with the Hamilton keeper who he beat with a great finish.

David Longwell (St Mirren's Head of Youth Development) said after the game: "We were glad that we got into half-time at only 1-0 down but in the second half the boys competed really well.

"They gave us the reaction that we had asked of them and in a much improved performance we got two well taken goals.

"I'm really delighted for the boys especially after the way they reacted in the second half."
