Danny's Diary - 06/09/2010
Due to the international weekend St Mirren had no game on Saturday and while manager, Danny Lennon admits that it is a far from ideal situation he believes that we should all be thinking of the greater good.
He said, "I can see where it benefits teams with internationalists but look at our situation where we have the international weekend break then two away games right after it, so we go four weeks until our next home game.
"While that is a downside there is also the plus side where it gives you time to get players back from injury and we've also put the time off to good use by getting games arranged to top up players' match fitness levels.
"I understand why we have the break. The SFA need as much help as they can as our country hasn't qualified for an international tournament since the World Cup in 1998. So we must give them every opportunity to try and break that trend."
So after a weekend off it was everybody back to work today and the plan for the week ahead is now up and running.
Danny said, "We had a good double training session today as the boys worked really hard, with the physical side of things in the morning and a technical session in the afternoon.
"We have a bounce game against Partick Thistle tomorrow so the boys who are playing in that had this afternoon off."
