Danny's Diary - 31/08/2010
St Mirren signed former Grimsby Town midfielder, Nick Hegarty this evening and manager Danny Lennon is pleased with the latest addition to his squad.
He said, "We played Nick in a bounce game against Kilmarnock the other week and he was up with us for a week's training in which he did very well.
"I was waiting to see where we were going with the Alan Gow situation but I couldn't wait on him forever so I'm pleased to say that we've got Nick up here and signed till the end of the season.
"Nick is an intelligent user of the ball and shows great quality from the wide left areas. He also has a good football brain on him and he doesn't really have to get bye people to put a ball in as he does things nice and early - he is exactly what we are looking for."
Despite having two other trialists and Alan Gow's proposed move to Swindon collapsing, Danny doesn't see any more transfer activity happening for St Mirren tonight.
He said, "I don't see us doing anymore business tonight as we'll not be following up our interest on trialists Euan Holden or Christos Veletanis.
"I invested a lot of time in trying to bring Alan Gow here and it looks as if he has been using us as a last resort. I want quality players here but only if they want to be with us.
"One of our big strengths is having a happy dressing-room so I only want people coming here for the right reasons, and that is wanting to play for St Mirren Football Club."
