St Mirren continued their unbeaten pre-season form this afternoon with a 2-0 victory against Ballymena United.

Although after the first forty-five minutes the game was goal-less, St Mirren emerged after the break and Paul McQuade scored his first goal for the Club after directing a header goalbound. The game looked like it would finish 1-0, but Craig Dargo was there at the death to net his first goal of the season.

Danny Lennon was pleased with the way the game went this afternoon, he said, "We knew that we had to be patient in breaking them down, and we had some very good chances throughout the game.

"In the first half, I felt that we were pretty resilient, we let ourselves down with the quality especially in the wider areas. We had a lot of possession though and I said to the boys at half time you need to get the balance right.

"It's important to have possession but you also need to create goal scoring opportunities."

With regards to the team selection today, Danny added, "I was delighted to have Wardlaw and Dargo up-front for the ninety minutes today.

"I thought that Paul McQuade did very well, we know the ability Paul has and the willingness to play at this level - he has a good eye for goal and was probably our biggest goal threat today."

St Mirren will now spend the next few days training in Ireland and they look forward to another two friendlies against Crusaders and Derry City.

Danny Lennon is upbeat about the season ahead and how the pre-season has progressed so far.

He said, "We can dictate training and rest over the next few days.

"It has been a difficult pre-season so far - playing good stiff opposition we have had a good work-out but we will need to look at the team selection for Monday, as Crusaders play on a plastic pitch."
