U19: St Mirren 2-1 Falkirk
St Mirren's Under 19 side put the disappointment of losing in last week's SFA Youth Cup semi-final behind them this afternoon, as they put in a good performance that earned them a 2-1 victory against Falkirk at McKenna Park.
The young Saints took the lead on the 5 minute mark when Kyle Faulds headed home after getting on to the end of a corner-kick.
The Bairns equalised midway through the first half to take the sides in level at half-time.
St Mirren continued to make chances in the second half but the goal didn't look as if it was going to come, until the game seeped into stoppage time! It was to come from Kyle Faulds again as he storked away a cool finish after making a driving run into the oppostion's penalty-area.
David Longwell (St Mirren's Head of Youth Development) said after the game: "I thought the boys deserved to win today for the way they took the game to Falkirk, particularly in the second half.
"The game did get scrappy at times but the boys did get the ball down and create chances which was very pleasing.
"It looked as if we weren't going to get the winning goal but to the boys' credit they drove on hard and got their reward with the late winner."
