On Tuesday night St Mirren dropped two points as they drew nil-nil with Motherwell at St Mirren Park. Some believe that there is a crisis of confidence down St Mirren Park way but manager Gus MacPherson reckons that his side isn't doing an awful lot wrong although he does feel frustrated with the situation.

He said, "The Motherwell game on Tuesday night was frustrating, another home game which we have only managed to take a point from.

"While Motherwell had some good possession of the ball for periods of the game Paul Gallacher only had one save of any note to make. We had by and far the best chances of the game, a header from a set piece by John Potter, two from Andy Dorman and one from Stephen O'Donnell at the end of the game.

"We created good chances but it is a source of frustration that we are in the position that we are in because we haven't been able to take the chances and capitalise on these good opportunities by turning them into three points rather than one point.

"For all that we are doing the right things and we have to keep doing them, maybe we need to be a little more ruthless in front of goal or even show a bit more composure. But if we keep these things going I'm sure the goals will come."

The injury report after the game on Tuesday turned out to be favourable and the majority of the week since has seen the players getting rest and making sure the preparations are in place for tomorrow's game.

Gus said, "The side came through the Motherwell game unscathed in relation to injuries, which is extremely pleasing. We're still keeping an eye on Chris Innes to see if he has a chance of being in contention for tomorrow's game against Hamilton, we'll have to wait and see on that one.

"After Tuesday's game the players had Wednesday off and were back in training on Thursday and today in preparation for the Hamilton game. The fitness element takes care of itself at this time of the season so it just all about games at the moment."

Tomorrow is the proverbial 'six-pointer' as third bottom St Mirren take on second bottom Hamilton Academical. And due to the fact that only a point separates the sides the manager and players know the importance of this match, one that Gus believes his side are more than capable of reaping maximum points from.

He said, "Tomorrow sees us going into what can only be described as a crucial game for us, and while some people are talking about cup finals, tomorrow's game is much more important.

"No matter who we are playing we have got to make sure that we are competing and ready to be up to the challenge, make sure we that we are prepared properly and get the right team on the field that can win the game - that is what we'll be looking to do at Hamilton tomorrow.

"Hamilton have done fantastically well since coming into the SPL as they are a very difficult team to play against. We've not managed a win against them yet this season as we have lost and drawn against them at St Mirren Park, maybe playing them away will help us but I really don't expect it to be any easier, this will be a tough match as it normally always is.

"But we will go to Hamilton with the belief that we can win the game.  If we play as we know we are capable of playing and reach the standards that we have set ourselves we will create the chances, the next part is to start putting them into the net."
